INDEPENDENCE DAY
In the 1800s, Independence Day was a time for fun and patriotism. The same will be true come on Saturday, July 3, at our star-spangled, old-fashioned Fourth of July celebration.
The fun-packed event has an all-day schedule: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Entertainment: Musical headliners will include live music from the Celtaire String Band and others. Horse-drawn wagon rides from 10-2 for a small extra charge, and a real hayride runs from 2-5 at no extra charge.
Activities: At our Blacksmith Shop, you can see our artisans busy at the forge. At our 1880s Cotton Planter’s Farm, the sweet smell of jelly being made wafts through the kitchen. In addition the Lost Hope Gunfighters will perform all day long, and there will be hay-rides and an historical reading of the Declaration of Independence.
Admission: $8 for adults and $6 for kids over age 2 — an old-fashioned bargain.
