Cub Scout Programs

from $15.00

Cub Scouts will see what life was like during the mid 1800s through guided visits to the 1878 Texian Farm and 1844 Tonkawa Encampment. They will also get to visit several of the farm animals such as donkeys, horses, chickens, turkeys, and Texas longhorns. Then, they can work toward completion of a Cub Scout Adventure.

  1. Tiger Scouts will learn to take a moment to look and listen to the natural world around them. Learn about two central Texas birds and build a wood birdhouse. (These activities fulfill the requirements for the Tiger Jungle Adventure.) $20 per Scout.

  2. Wolf Scouts will begin their time at the farm constructing a kite the way it was done in the 1800s, then head off on their guided tour. Once they complete their guided tour they will have time to try out their new kites. (These activities fulfill requirement 2D toward the Air of the Wolf Elective Adventure. They will need to complete the remaining requirements on their own or with their den at another time.) $15 per Scout.

  3. Bear Scouts will learn all about one of the most coveted toys of the 19th century, marbles. They will learn a bit of marble history and terminology. Then sew their own marble bag to hold their new marble collection (set included for each scout). We will end the day with playing a few marble games. (These activities fulfill most of the requirements for the Marble Madness Elective Adventure. Scouts will need to complete the remaining requirements on their own or with their den at another time.) $15 per Scout.

Webelos Scouts are welcome to choose any of the above options but they will not count toward a rank requirement.

Time: 3 hours. Cost: $15/$20 per Scout, depending on the program, parents and others in group pay regular admission.

A $50 deposit secures your reservation. The remainder can be paid the day of the program. Everyone is welcome on the guided history tour.

While Cub Scouts participate in the activities a minimum of 1 chaperone per 5 scouts is required with a maximum of one chaperone per scout is allowed. Other family members or chaperones can use this time to explore the farm on their own.

These programs are available at 1 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays from September through May. This can be scheduled with or without a campout.
