Basic Hand-Tool Woodworking
Basic Hand-Tool Woodworking
Learn the elegant art of working wood by hand. We cover the basics of wood as a material, tool selection, and sharpening. We welcome total beginners, history buffs and “makers.” Hand tools are a wonderful and practical way to work wood in a small space like an apartment. Using simple tools, we will make a classic tool tote with a wooden handle. You will learn to mark lines, hand cut your parts, trim them to square with a hand plane and cut and fit a handle. With these basic skills you can build anything from a bookcase to a raised bed garden! Materials provided.
ONSITE: Hands-On Class. Taught the last Saturday of February through May, in the Wood Shop from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (4 hours). $100 per student. Students should wear clothing appropriate for the weather. Bring a bottle of water.
Important notice: No refunds are allowed once the enrollment fee is received. Students who cannot attend a class for whatever reason may reschedule once, on a space-available basis.
