Forge Welding Projects: 3 Classes
Prerequisite: Basic Blacksmithing: Forge Welding or previous forge welding experience.
Create unique usable items while honing your forge welding skills in this focused, five-hour class.
Fishtail Scroll Fire Poker: The easiest of the forge welding classes. This simple fire poker is a handy tool or great gift. The student will focus on simple bundle welds in this project.
Chain Links: The perfect class if you want to hone your forge welding skills. Forging a length of chain provides multiple opportunities to practice welding.
Basket-Handled Barbeque Fork: The most challenging of the forge welding project classes you will learn how to forge a basket twist and then use a drop tong weld to join the basket twist and fork together.
Taught in our Village Smithy at the following times: February, April and October: 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and May, June, August, September: 8 a.m. to 1:30 pm. Materials provided.
Students should wear a cotton or other natural-fiber shirt (long sleeves optional), long pants or jeans, and work boots or close-toed shoes. Bring a bottle of water and a sack lunch. A 30-minute lunch break will be given. Gourmet sandwiches, chips and drinks are available for purchase in the General Store.
Class is designed for students ages 18 and older. Students aged 15-17 years old may enroll so long as a parent or legal guardian signs the attendance release form at the beginning of the class. Youths ages 12-14 may enroll if a parent or legal guardian enrolls in and takes the class with the younger student. No exceptions.
Enrollment is required no less than a week before the class date. All enrollments are subject to availability.
Important notice: No refunds are allowed once the enrollment fee is received. Students who cannot attend a class for whatever reason may reschedule once, on a space-available basis.
