Make A Hammer
Make A Hammer
Prerequisite: Basic Blacksmithing: Core Skills or previous blacksmithing experience.
Make your own rounding hammer with Mark Ling, a renowned Texas smith who crafts beautiful hammers, hammer-making tooling and general blacksmith tools. There is nothing like forging with your own tools, so come out and forge a hammer you can use and pass down to your children.
Taught in our Village Smithy from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Materials provided.
Class enrollment is limited and will sell out quickly so be sure to reserve your spot early.
Students should wear a cotton or other natural-fiber shirt (long sleeves optional), long pants or jeans, and work boots or close-toed shoes. Students should bring safety glasses and optionally hearing protection.
Bring a bottle of water and a sack lunch. All classes include a 30-minute break for lunch. Gourmet sandwiches, chips and drinks are available for purchase in the General Store.
Class is designed for students ages 18 and older. Students aged 15-17 years old may enroll so long as a parent or legal guardian signs the attendance release form at the beginning of the class. Youths ages 12-14 may enroll if a parent or legal guardian enrolls in and takes the class with the younger student. No exceptions.
Enrollment must be completed at least one week before class date. All enrollments are subject to availability.
Important notice: No refunds are allowed once the enrollment fee is received. Students who cannot attend a class for whatever reason may reschedule once, on a space-available basis.
