Designed for beginners and those looking to refine their skills, this series will guide you through the creation of a complete set of handmade campfire gear, culminating in a hands-on cooking day using the tools you've crafted.

Class 1: Fire Poker — Kick off your journey by learning the fundamentals of blacksmithing. You'll start by forging a fire poker while gaining essential skills in fire starting, hammering techniques, and basic tool shaping.

Class 2: S-Hooks & Hot Dog Roaster — Build on your new skills by creating versatile S-hooks and a custom hot dog roaster. This class focuses on refining your hammer control and introduces key blacksmithing techniques.

Class 3: Campfire Tripod — Forge a sturdy, collapsible campfire tripod or spit, perfect for hanging pots and kettles over the fire. This project will challenge your ability to work with larger metal pieces and create a functional and transportable cooking setup.

Class 4: Flint & Steel — Learn the basics of working with carbon steel and the principles of heat treating as you forge your own fire steel. You’ll also master the ancient skill of starting a fire with flint and steel, adding a practical survival skill to your blacksmithing repertoire.

Class 5: Portable Grill — Create a break-apart portable grill, an essential tool for any camping trip. This project challenges you to combine previous techniques to make a durable, functional, and transportable cooking surface.

Class 6: Campfire Cooking Day — Put your new tools to the test in a fun and rewarding campfire cooking day. You'll start your own fire and prepare a delicious meal using the fire poker, S-hooks, tripod, and grill you forged throughout the series. The menu includes campfire coffee & tea, grilled zucchini, Frito-pies and s'mores. Students are welcome to bring their family for this final class, but please note that family members will need to provide their own food for the meal.
