Prepare a meal on a wood-fired stove just like the pioneers once did, at the only place in the Austin area where you can learn original Texas cooking skills and eat an authentic Old Texas meal. Taught by an historical culinary expert.

ONSITE: Hands-On Class. Taught on selected first Saturdays on a wood-fired hearth at the 1878 Jourdan Cabin, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. (3 hours), $75 per student. Materials provided.

Menus: January — Chicken, greens, potatoes and cookies. February — Beef, potatoes, greens and custard. March — Ham, cornbread, green beans and pie. April — Chicken, veggies and fruit tarts. June — Chicken, greens, sweet potatoes and pie. July — Beef, potatoes, greens and custard. August — Ham, cornbread, greens and pie. September — Chicken, veggies and fruit tarts. October — Beef, potatoes, greens and pie. November — Ham, cornbread, greens and cheesecake.

Enrollments must be completed one week in advance of class.

Important notice: No refunds are allowed once the enrollment fee is received. Students who cannot attend a class for whatever reason may reschedule once, on a space-available basis.
